Riyad Mahrez led the Algerian national team to a big 3-0 victory over their Sudanese counterpart in the match held at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, within the fifth group of the African Cup of Nations football tournament. Mahrez opened the scoring with the fastest goal in the tournament in the second minute after an organized attack started by Baghdad Bounedjah and ending with a wonderful touch with the heel from Hicham Boudaoui, to settle the ball in the net. Mahrez continued his brilliant performance in the second half by adding the second goal in the 61st minute after a wonderful pass from Mohamed Amin Amoura, which is Mahrez's 36th goal for the Saudi Al-Ahli player with his country's national team. In the final minutes, Ibrahim Maza consolidated the score by scoring the third goal after a header pass from Bounedjah, scoring his first international goal with the Algerian national team. The match was marked by the presence of French football legend Zinedine Zidane in the stands to follow his son Luca Zidan, who excelled in goalkeeping for Algeria and saved dangerous chances for Sudan.
